My Stemettes timeline, from my very first event...

THURSDAY 26TH OCTOBER 2017:
MEET THE STEMETTES: NTT HALF-TERM EDITION

It all started with an enticing search on Eventbrite for STEM events in London during October half-term. Too shy to go alone, I managed to get my best friend, Excel, to come along with me. I came in, saw the Swag Bags under the chairs, complete with portable chargers, had loads of food, and the rest was history! I submitted a paragraph on how the Stemettes had inspired me that day and I managed to get half a day shadowing a business analyst, Stefanie Bialas!

NOVEMBER 2017:
I SET UP MY STEMILLIONS CLUB

I was pumped from the Stemettes event and I started researching all things Stemettes. On their website, I found out about their Sherpa to Stemette program and quickly applied for it. I then read about their Stemillions club, which are discovery clubs for young girls to teach them about women in STEM.

I was so excited to set up my STEM club! Every week, we focused on a different women in STEM and by the end of the club, over a year later, it was so inspiring hearing all about the careers in STEM my girls wanted to have. It was so lovely seeing the community I had created, where the girls weren't afraid to be themselves!

TUESDAY 3RD APRIL 2018:
STEMILLIONS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

This was an event which helped me gain some leadership training, We heard talks from women in STEM, such as Sally Nowroozi, from Salesforce. They gave us their tips and tricks to being a leader.

Wednesday 4TH april 2018:
STUDENT TO STEMETTE MATCHING EVENT

This was the first event in my mentoring programme! We met all of the Sherpas (mentors) and we rated them based on compatibility. Kirsty and I were matched - and the rest is history! Click below to read all about it!

ThurSDAY 8th november 2018:
good growth summit

The Good Growth Summit was an event to connect and inspire women founders and leaders of businesses from the US and UK. It was invitation-only, but I was selected by the Stemettes to attend because of my work in the Student to Stemette programme! I had a great time and I was so inspired.

What will always stick with me is the analogy I heard on the day: "“From small acorns grow great oak trees”. We should always strive to pay it forward!

thursday 14TH march 2019:
SPEAKER AT panel event @ ST JOHN PAYNE SCHOOL

This was my first ever speaking event! I was terrified! I gave a presentation and then we had a Q&A session.

SATURDAY 6th APRIL 2019:
STEM IN A DAY @ GLOBAL

This was a Hackathon, at the Global offices. I really enjoyed this day! We got to tour the offices, see and use some studios, which they used for Capital FM, and we were set the task of creating a website, to make learning an instrument easier for the visually impaired. It was such a lovely day and I enjoyed it so much.

saturday 13TH july 2019:
STEMETTEs future summit

This was my second speaking event, but in front of more people this time! I even had a microphone fitted. The title of my panel was 'making the most of your mentor'. I was very nervous for this one, but it went by very quickly and by the end of it, I didn't want to get off the stage!

9th - 13th september 2019:
stemettes work experience

I updated the events page on the website and maintained and processed internal documents, such as registering interest for people emailing about events. I created ‘meal plans’ which map out sessions for the Stemillions clubs, specifically two meal plans for Marie Curie. I also represented the Stemettes at two events: a workshop with UCL and a charity event with G-Research.
